My Persuasive Writing

I believe...that we should save power in our homes.

My first reason is...you can save power in your home by having a short shower.  You can also save money and then you can spend the money on your dinner.

My second reason is... to save power in the school by turning off the lights.

My third reason is...to save power in the job or else it might run out.  

My  next  reason is on the earth.  You can save the earth in the future.  

So that is why I believe... to save energy.

In My Holidays

In the holiday, I went to my papa’s house on the first week. I was playing with my papa’s dog called Brownie . He has brown fur with little black eyes and very long claws . Where I went Brownie always followed me around the house. My friend Deon came to my papa ‘s house to get me to play a game of tiggy. We had fun playing together outside.

 On the second week Deon and Maopa and myself went to the Otara pools. We stayed at the pools all day. My family set up the lunches for me and my friends so we could eat. After our swim there was jam and salmon and capsicum sandwiches and a big bottle of coke. After we had lunch, we went back into the pool to have a swim again. Mum said “It is time to go home.” So we all got changed and left to go home. When I got home I was feeling tired and I went to sleep and I didn’t wake up until the next morning.

NZ SHARE OUT DAY

stay safe. One thing we did well at
T.P.S was  act very fast one thing
I  want to work on next time is be a lot more faster
our meeting place is  in the hall remember.in

My Narrative - Roald Dahl's Story

One day there was a man called Roald Dahl. He has blue jeans. He has yellow hair. He is a happy man. There was one woman and one man in bed . They were snuggling under the blanket . Then in the morning Roald Dahl pick them up . They were going to the chocolate factory.

 The factory was big like our school. It had a grey roof with different sized chimneys .The chimneys were blowing the smoke out. Then they hopped out from the car. Roald Dahl opened the gate for them. They were excited to go in the factory to go look at the chocolate.

 Roald Dahl was a good man to the people in the factory. There was a man watching the factory. He was Roald Dahl’s friend. He helped him look after the factory. He said “Welcome to the Chocolate Factory.” And they walked inside.

When they got inside they could see a big tube in the chocolate river. They saw chocolate in the river. It looked so nice! Then the people went to go see the tube in the chocolate. The big boy fell in the chocolate. It went splash! Roald Dahl shouted “NO! Don’t go in the chocolate! You will get sucked up in the tube!” But it was too late...The big boy was stuck in the tube. The tube was breaking! Roald Dahl jumped into the chocolate and started to cut the tube. The oompa loompa’s came to help them. Roald Dahl cut the big boy out of the tube. Roald Dahl said “Don’t go back into the chocolate river! It is dangerous.” The big boy said “Ok, I’m sorry.”

 The visitors went home. Roald Dahl was alone. Roald Dahl liked the people and he had a good day at the chocolate factory.

loni observation report

Here is a link to an example of an observation report.  You can use this example to guide your writing.  

Try to use as much science vocabulary that you can.  E.g. instead of saying ‘sucked up the water’ you could say ‘absorbed the water through the stem’
WALT write an observation report
Introduction:

The first paragraph should introduce what you are going to inform the audience about.  

e.g. This term we have been learning about plants...
This  term we have been learning about plants.  
Procedure:

Tell your audience exactly what you did and how you did it.  You might use commas to list your actions.

You might use words like:  when, then, after that...
I  need a geranium. plant
I  need a  cup,soil and the plant .
First  put soil in the container
then plant your plant
then water it .
Observations:

Tell your audience what you noticed.  What were the changes?  Why do you think those changes happened?  What were some problems?

You might use words like: on the first day, noticed, observed, changed...
I have to water the  plant everyday
The plant seems to be dying. because
I didn’t  take notice of it .
I didn't water the plant
and it was dying   
Conclusion:

Tell your audience what you learned from the experiment.  What were the key things

that you found out.  Tell your audience how you felt at the end of your experiment.

You might use words like:  I discovered, I realised, I learned that...



I think the  plant needs a big container .
and sunlight .I was not interested  in  looking at the plant everyday .
I was not satisfied with my plant because

In the Holiday

During the first week of the holiday I went to spend my holiday with my papa . I loved staying with my papa because I met new friends. We went shopping the next day. My papa’s neighbour’s got a trampoline. I felt relaxed and happy while jumping on it.

My Writing Timetable

This is what I do for writing each day in Room 8!

Monday
I write a recount about my weekend with Mrs Takilai.  I try my best to sound out my words and use my word flip card.  I draw a picture to go with my recount.

Tuesday
I publish my writing on my blog!  I also draw a picture using Tux Paint, which I insert into my blog post.  I love Tuesdays!

Wednesday
I use cutting sheets to practice putting letters in the right order to create a word.  When I have finished this, I get to play scrabble with Mrs Takilai!

Thursday
On Thursdays I practice my handwriting using handwriting cards.  When I have finished all of my work, I am allowed to go on ABCya! to practice other literacy games at my level.  This is the end of my week!

When I have finished my writing, I go to Room 7 to work on my reading with Miss Aireen.

The Brave Little Tailor

I am learning to find key words and phrases that describes a main character in the text.

Today I read a book called The Brave Little Tailor. The main character in this book is the Tailor.

  • He is a brave man because he kills two giants and and a boar.
  • He wears a brown belt that says ‘Seven At One Blow’ because he killed seven flies all at once.
  • He is not scared. He is confident.
  • He married the king’s princess.
  • One thing the Tailor likes to say is ‘Seven in One Blow.

I want to be like the tailor because I like how he was a brave man.

Tim's Costume

Today I read a book called Tim's Costume. He got invited by his friend to a costume party. He did not like the costumes suggested by his mother or sister.

I think Tim should go to the costume party looking like a scarecrow so that he can scare people at this party.


In My Weekend


In my weekend, I  went   to   spend my  weekend  at my  papa‘s   house.  I   played   with  my friends  and  I   met  new friends too.  We   played hide  and seek.  I   had  the  best   hiding   place!  I   hid in  the tree!   I   was  laughing  in    the    tree.   Maopa   gave  up!  I   jumped  down  from the tree  and  papa called us  for  dinner and  we had  KFC.  It was beautiful!

Room 8 Charades

A Weekend Recount


At the weekend, I  went to the beach with my mum and got an ice cream  from the man for free!   I went  back home and I went  for a shower because I got all the sand on my body!  After my shower I went to my papa’s home.  I felt happy because we went to the beach and I loved looking at all the crabs.

On the weekend I went to the gym with my mum and sister. Later we went to Mac Donald’s.We had a good lunch and we enjoyed our good time together.
